One of my biggest goals for the new year is to get into better shape and live a healthier life. Over the last few years I’ve let my personal fitness and health pretty much go to crap. We’ve eaten out more times over the last month that I care to admit. When I’m stressed I turn to a bowl of ice cream. Things are really not going great in the healthy lifestyle department.
The idea to start creating a healthier lifestyle actually didn’t start as a new years resolution though. I knew that this was what I wanted to do in November. I was feeling crummy and tired all the time and quickly started to recognize the problem areas in my life: not enough sleep, not enough water, not enough healthy food, not enough exercise. These were things I wanted, but wasn’t doing.
Unfortunately with the holidays approaching quickly I didn’t want to commit and then fail. I personally really love holiday food, so I couldn’t say no to that. I figured the best way to go about it would be for me to start after Christmas, which is pretty much the new year. So yeah, new year new me– judge me.
While I don’t have any fitness or health goals as far as weight loss goes (because it’s not my top concern), what I do want for this year is to exercise for 30 mins-an hour daily and be eating a diet that contains more home cooked meals, fruits, and vegetables than it is now. I feel like these are things that are realistic and attainable for me. If I were to say I want to eat nothing but organic, gluten free, low carb, healthy meals everyday I would fail. That’s not who I am as a person. I also don’t want to count calories or steps. But I can do a workout and a veggie dinner.
Along with that, I have a few blogging goals this year that coincide. I want to blog at least once weekly about food- either a healthy recipe, a grocery shopping list, or some meal ideas- and once weekly fitness/workout tips for busy moms. I know I’m not an expert, but I can absolutely find a quick workout, do it, and talk about if I liked it or not and how I’d alter it.
There are so many moms and women who want to be their best selves, so in 2018 this is my big focus. Why not use this platform I’ve been able to build to help inspire and inform on things that people like me actually care about instead of just ads and pictures.
So in 2018 there are definitely going to be some changes to the blog. I know I’ve let it get a little “advertise-y” lately, and it’s been driving me just as crazy as I’m sure it’s been driving you.
I hope that you’ll stick around to see what else goes down this year (there’s more than just this up my sleeve!). Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great new year!
