With Easton, knowing I could get access to a better pump would’ve saved my life. He spent a few nights out of the month with his Dad and I had to pump enough to get him through those days and pump regularly during the time he was gone. Because it was so difficult with cheap pumps we sometimes had to supplement with formula. I made it nearly a full year; I wish I could’ve kept it up for longer but it was so hard.
With this baby, I knew I planned to breastfeed from the beginning. It’s a priority for me, and not just for the health benefits. Breastfeeding is a lot cheaper than formula and that’s something that’s important to us because we’re both still in school.
Since I’m in school and have to go to class for a few hours a week, I also needed to be able to pump so our little guy can eat when I’m not home (or so Dad can wake up in the middle of the night and feed him..hehe). So when I found out I might be able to get a pump through my insurance I had to look into it.
Turns out, I was able to get a great pump with no out-of-pocket cost to me at all! I was given the choice between three highly recommended and well-performing pumps, but I chose the Spectra Baby USA S2 ! It’s such a quiet and effective pump that I can actually use it and be comfortable. Crazy, right?
